Winter is the perfect time to book your Summer Holiday

family holiday booking

The winter can be long, very very long, especially if you’re at home with little balls of baby energy climbing the walls. The sky outside is grey and the snow is finally melting. With the blues of January fresh in your mind, now is the perfect time to book your summer family holiday!

BubbleBum Travel Car Booster Seat recently ran a survey which revealed that 32% of people book their holiday between January and April.

We’re not surprised, after all nothing is better than sitting in front of your open fire on a chilly winter evening, kiddies in bed, browsing the world wide web for your next family adventure. Some of us are old school and still like to flick through the brochures but many prefer to filter through online images and reviews;  that’s how we roll at BubbleBum!

When booking a family holiday, research is important and many people like to use a travel agent who will deal with everything in a fuss-free manner, but if you’re a little more adventurous you can book a holiday online, which could potentially save you money.   Yes, the words any mum or dad likes to hear,  SAVING MONEY!

Whether you want a sleepy country cottage in the South of France, a fairy-filled adventure in Holland or a sunny all-inclusive beach holiday in Spain, the internet has everything a family needs, from accommodation and flights, to car rental and transfers.

But there are so many comparison, booking, and review websites on offer that it’s difficult to know which  are trustworthy.

Here are our favourites.

Booking.com lets you book your entire holiday from flights to hotels, and even offers ready-made packages. This comparison site details all available accommodation and flights to and from your desired location. You can filter your options to suit your needs, if you prefer an apartment with a pool or a villa near the beach you can select the elements that make your holiday special for you and your family. In our experience booking.com offers a cheaper rate than most hotel websites. A definite favourite of ours, we give Booking.com the thumbs up.

TripAdvisor is another favourite of ours.  This site not only offers a price comparison service, it also offers customer reviews and experiences that are so important for every family holiday. Here you can view customer photographs and images of the good and not so good experiences. You can also research the fun things to do in your desired area or read reviews of the best family-friendly restaurants or locate the closest supermarket.

Tots to Travel is a super site that offers family-friendly villas, and we are in love with it! These stunning holiday lets are fully equipped for families and safety is a number one priority. That’s important because the main thing a parent searches for when they are booking their summer break is secure accommodation where the pool can’t be accessed easily by children. Tots to Travel have this sorted, as all pools are fenced which is a great comfort to all parents.

Away with the Kids is another cool site to check out for accommodation as well as Baby Friendly Bolt Holes they offer great hotels, villas and townhouses to suit every family size, whilst  Smyth and Family give a little luxury.

You can also book your travel and accommodation separately, you can get budget flights from Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2 as well as hopping on a P&O ferry. The plus for this is that you can bring your car and everything you need with you to make your family adventure easier.

But perhaps you might prefer someone else to do the work for you, in that case travel agents are definitely the way to go. There are loads of great travel agents online and you can browse their sites to find the perfect getaway for you and your littles.

Thomas Cook, First Choice, Jet 2 Holidays, Mark Warner and TUI are all great travel agents to visit that will fulfil your family’s holiday needs.

No matter how you book your family holiday this year, make sure it is a good fit for your family and that you research the area you will visit to find fun things to do and places to visit with your little ones. Also don’t forget to bring your kids BubbleBum Travel Car Booster Seat to keep them safe on their travels and avoid sky-high booster rental fees from car hire companies.
