A Note From Our Founder On Booster Seat Safety

The founder of BubbleBum, Grainne Kelly, opens up about the importance of car safety and parents educating themselves and their children on the topic. With so many states bumping the ages of booster seat riders up and up, kids are having to adjust to booster seat travel even longer. Children don’t understand the reasons behind the changes, and parents don’t always have the answers.

Grainne Kelly comments on the topic, “One of the main barriers to booster seat use is the resistance of children. This is totally understandable as on one hand we are trying to encourage our children to be more independent, and on the other we are saying, ‘Sit in that baby seat.’

Children do not understand the reasons why they should use a booster seat, this is certain as many of their parents do not know the reasons why they should use a booster seat either. We asked school children why they should ride on a booster seat and the most common answer was ‘so that we don’t get into trouble with the police.’ None of the children had any idea of how their seat belt should be positioned. (Positioning Information Here) It is so important the children know where their seat belt should be positioned and why. They are at an age where they are able to decide if they feel the seat belt is sitting comfortably.

BubbleBum was invented for these very reasons. We needed to address the issues that children and parents were faced with. We need to build the self esteem of our children and make booster seats desirable products.”

BubbleBum was designed to be cool, and the name and colors were voted by the majority of kid testers! Having a booster seat that kids like helps increase their favorability of riding in booster seats all together.

Also, parents should explain to children the reasons behind these safety measures so that they fully understand that booster seats are not a punishment, but a security!

Safe Travels!

BubbleBum Sweeps Up Another Booster Seat Award

We are more than thrilled to announce that we’ve received yet another booster seat award! Creative Child Magazine voted BubbleBum the winner of the Kids Travel – Booster Seat category in the Top Choice of the Year Award 2012!

Creative Child Magazine’s Awards Program is unique in that all products submitted are reviewed by parents, educators and professionals alike. This year Creative Child had over 100 people to review each product and handpick the winners! Products are not reviewed by any one person. They are reviewed by many people––the very people who purchase them. We’re honored to be chosen by parents as a favorite booster seat for kids travel.

We are adding this feather to our hat, along with these past awards:

PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved) Media Awards

JPMA Awards

IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety) “Best Bet” in their booster seat evaluation report, where they’ve branded BubbleBum as one of the best for safety

Hi Buddies,

Check out a recent review of BubbleBum by Jennifer Lace on Eco Child’s Play, a really interesting website:

Last winter, we traveled to meet family for a ski adventure in Colorado.  When I went to rent the car, I was appalled at how much they wanted to charge me for a booster seat rental. I could easily go to a big box store and buy one for the price of one day’s rental.  I didn’t do this, as my son is borderline for the age requirement to ride without one in Colorado, which I quickly googled on my phone.  We decided to risk it.  Foolish, perhaps.  Thankfully, we were all safe.

BubbleBum’Inflatable, Portable, Foldable Car Booster Seat is a convenient solution to traveling with toddlers and older children.  I wish I would have had one in Colorado.

Many families have a big vacation planned this summer! I’m sure the countdown is on for the trip, too!

Our question is, are you waiting all summer just for one trip? What about enjoying small getaways with your family to make the summer fun all summer long? We’ve put together a list of ideas that you and your traveling clan can do in short trips so that you can enjoy your entire summer and not have the post-vacation blues!

  • Take a trip to a nearby lake, ocean, river or pool. Bring along a load of swimming gear, snacks and toys to make it feel like you are taking a vacation!
  • Travel across the state line and experience something new there. Perhaps visit a national park or a cool museum. Book a night at a hotel or just make it a daylong trip if your home isn’t far away.
  • Go camping. Family camping trips are a great way to bond with one another. Include your kids in pitching the tent, canoeing and building a fire. Go fishing together, swim in the lake, and tell stories around a campfire. This will build memories for years to come! You can always bring another family along, too!
  • Book a night at a water-park or hotel with a pool. This can feel like a fun vacation for kids even if it is short. Parents can relax poolside, or cool down after a long week at work, while the children enjoy their time as well!
  • Visit somewhere local. Maybe your family decides on a nearby zoo, theme park or mini golf park. Do it as a family and it will become a fun getaway that doesn’t take much time and energy.
  • Go see a relative (with kids) that you haven’t in a while. Think through a list of family that you haven’t had the time to visit. Then schedule aside a day to road trip and see them, or meet them halfway! Let the kids play together while you enjoy catching up.

.

There’s a list to get you started! Talk with your family to see what they want to do for a fun, short vacation, and then mark family dates on the calendar. It could be a daylong trip, a weekend trip or even just an afternoon.

Make your whole summer fun! And, remember, don’t forget your BubbleBum!

Happy vacationing!
